Some of our family have already become aware of the recent change in management of Airway Motocross Park. Andy and Josh James have selected Josh Hitchens as the ideal canidate and now new guardian of our facility.
"We [Andy and Josh James] believe we found someone who is just as passionate for riding/racing and the sport of motocross as we were. We were looking for someone who would continue our legacy and strive to keep improving the track every year and we think Josh will be it. Airway MX Park if a family oriented facility and he plans on keeping it that way."
Still not sure? Well, here is a letter from Josh Hitchens to put your minds at easy:
"I would like to take a minute to post a little about myself. Most of you probably have no idea who I am. My name is Joshua Hitchens. I was born and raised here in Spokane and I love it to this day. I was first introduced to the world of motorcycles at the young age of 5, with a Suzuki Jr. 50, and have had a deep-rooted love for the sport ever since. I don’t need to explain what happened next for the simple fact that a lot of you have the very same story, but I will tell you a little more of my story.
I have been a contractor since the age of 18, which has taught me life and business skills, both of which will be important to the success of our home track. Life as a contractor has also allowed me the opportunity to develop important equipment operating skills needed to maintain a motocross track. Lastly, I have been a full-blown workaholic my entire adult life and I am excited about applying that to our track.
I would like to thank both Andy James and Josh James for allowing me the opportunity to continue what they have started. They have done a great job over the many years. I would like to stress that this is not a changing in ownership. I view this as a changing of the guard. Our local track is something that is both precious and is vital to the community, and I will put all of my heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into maintaining and growing this facility.
This track is all of ours. I view us as one big family bound together by the love of the sport of motocross. This is our practice facility were we all go to have fun and to create memories that last.
I am going to keep my ideas for the track private. This is simply because I want the opportunity to surprise people with positive changes. Safety of course is the first priority. Second is that we are all there to have fun. Third, to continue skill advancement. I am a firm believer in The Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come.” That’s my plan…
I look forward to getting to know every one and their families. I also would like to apologize ahead of time about being terrible with names, so try to bare with me and let’s all have a kick ass 2014!"
